Saying Goodbye to John Glenn

What a wonderful man who lived a full live full of adventure.  My favorite astronaut John Glenn, died Thursday (Dec. 8) at the age of 95, flew on two space missions during his long and eventful life. Both of them set records .   O n Feb. 20, 1962, Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth . On the second — the STS-95 mission of the space shuttle Discovery, which lifted off in October 1998 — he became, at 77, the oldest person to slip Earth's bonds.  He performed the MECS experiment for my friend Dr. Dennis Morrison on STS-95, which is a cancer experiment being experimented at MD Anderson, Houston Texas for breast cancer.  This gave me the idea to write my first novel AEROSPACE:  The Last Payload about an aging astronaut going to space for the last chance of life on Earth.  This book tackles the problem of what to do if an astronaut dies in space. Then came the sequel AEROSPACE:  The King's Payload is about another adventure suspense novel surrounded by espionage and roman

Can You Hear? Across the World........It still applies today....Listen carefully...

Can You Hear?   The cries of the children Heard across the land Falling high from their sins Holding with no hands   Why has this happened? Tell me whom do we blame? Someone must be mistaken Truly, they were insane   Pictures imprinted in our minds Forever will they not be erased? Looking for a reasonable sign Taking precious life into death chased   The cries of the children Heard across the land Calling out to all men Each to unite and band   Why has this happened? Tell me whom do we blame Together our brothers united This life gone into flames   Hearing the cries Twin Towers - 09/11/01

Anticipating Cuba Through Children Eyes

Anticipating Cuba!   When I was seventeen, I met a beautiful exotic dark-eyed girl named Renee’.   She spoke of an island she loved named Cuba.   I’ve dreamed of traveling to the island since our magical meeting.   She told me her family had lived in one of the most beautiful casas (homes) in the whole wide world, but had to leave during the Castro led Revolution in 1959.   She made me promise if I ever had the chance, I would travel to visit her paradise. Now forty nine years later, I’m traveling to her home 112 nautical miles away from Key West, Florida on our 42 foot sailboat, the JonNe’, named after my husband, Jon and my name, Renne’.   I have never forgotten the young black haired beauty, as we both shared the same name, Renne’/Renee’. We received permission from the United States Marine Treasury Department to travel to Cuba under the category, “In Support of the Cuban People”.   We were allowed to go as I am an author of children’s books and was planning a presentation

The Artist Within poem from "Sensuous Book of Poems"

This poem is from "Sensuous Book of Poems". It was entered in the Tennessee Williams Poetry Contest in Key West. It reminded me of Tennessee Williams. Not many people know he was an Artist. The Artist Within Surrounding colors come alive Blending techniques and styles Capturing realness with dreams Finding sensual passion serene Take a look and what do you see But a painting man who hides Behind the colors that bleed Beyond his years to abide Just a man with brush in hand Choosing subjects from the mind From portraits to faraway lands Creating forms from the blind Shaping the soul with each stroke Not knowing where the reflection may go Once asleep inside now awoke Into a journey of an artist’s woe Each medium has a life of its own Speaking among the lost images No longer a silent space not known But lasting renditions though all ages Surrounding colors come alive Blending techniques and styles
